A rather mixed picture across Britain and Ireland today with many areas seeing some warm sunshine but there will be some heavy showers breaking out in places and an area of more persistent rain brings a rather wet day to parts of central and eastern England.
It's a rather misty and murky start to Thursday in many regions with the odd shower or some drizzle in places but skies will brighten up for many with some sunny spells developing. Much of northern and eastern Scotland will enjoy another with unbroken sunshine helping lift temperatures into the low-mid twenties once more.
There will be some sunshine for many other regions too, but scattered heavy and potentially thundery showers will break out this afternoon. Not everywhere will catch them, but central and southern parts of England, south Wales, Ireland, Northern Ireland and western Scotland look to be the areas at greatest risk of catching one of these downpours.
The main exception today comes across north Wales, the Midlands, northern and eastern England including East Anglia where it will remain generally cloudy and spells of rain will push in from the east, some of these turning heavy and persistent in places, resulting in a rather wet day for some.
Temperatures will again vary quite considerably across the country, ranging from 15°C to 17°C around coasts and in the cloudier, wetter areas, to highs of 18°C to 21°C for many but values could again be as high as 24°C over central and northern Scotland. It's also worth bearing in mind that UV and pollen levels will also be high outside of the showers.
Outbreaks of rain and drizzle across those central and eastern regions will tend to drift west/southwest tonight to affect parts of Wales and southwest England. It becomes misty elsewhere with some low cloud forming so Friday dawns grey for many before skies brighten and some warm sunny spells break through which will then trigger a scattering of some heavy showers by the afternoon.
